Shirley Ann Keegan of Twin Falls died October 12th, 2016 in her home, surrounded by her family after a long battle with breast cancer.

She was born May 31, 1955 in Los Angels, California to Lucille and William Brown. Shirley has one older sister Robbi and twin younger brothers Glen and Gary. As kids they all loved to swim, go to the beach, and play Ping-Pong. Shirley graduated from Northview High School in Covina, California in 1973.

Shirley moved to Twin Falls in 1977 with her best friend Valier Neilson, where she fell in love with Idaho and her adoring husband, Dennis Anthony Keegan. After moving here she worked for many years as a check out clerk at Albertson's, but eventually left to stay home and raise her two children Kyle and Melissa. Shirley was very active in her kids lives and schools. She volunteered countless hours at Sawtooth Elementary and O'Leary Junior High.

After raising her kids Shirley went to work at the Filer School District where she worked in the Special Education Department of the Elementary and Intermediate schools as a paraprofessional. She got incredible joy out of working with kids and went above and beyond what was necessary to help her students.

Shirley was a life long athlete and enjoyed numerous sports. She play recreational volleyball for numerous years, was a member of the Blue Lakes Country Club and Canyon spring golf associations, where she enjoyed many hours of playing golf with her friends, and she loved to float rivers. Shirley oared the Middle Fork of the Salmon in her micro cat countless times. One of her proudest trips was in 2012, when she hiked into the Grand Canyon at Phantom Ranch and spent eleven days on the river with her husband, two children, extended family, and an amazing group of lifetime friends. Out of all the sports she played tennis was her passion. Through tennis Shirley gained many lasting friendships, was feared for her slice, and served as the President of the Twin Falls Tennis Association for several years.

Shirley had one of the most energetic and caring personalities that brightened everyone around hers day. She believed in the dignity and worth of all people and treated everyone with kindness and compassion. She is loved by all and will dearly missed.

Surviving Shirley is her husband Dennis, children Kyle and Melissa, sister Roberta Brown of California, brothers Gary and Glen Brown. Shirley also leaves behind countless friends and extended family members. She was proceeded in death by her parents, step-mother Jacquelyn Brown, and her life long friend Valier.

Her family would like to thank all the wonderful people who were a part of her life and supported her through her illness. We would especially like to thank the amazing staff at St. Luke's MISTI who took excellent care of her.
